Content creation for a makeup artist: a full behind-the-scenes project

I recently worked with a talented makeup artist during a studio photoshoot with models and a photographer. My role was to capture the behind-the-scenes atmosphere, highlight the art happening in real time, and create a full set of videos and photos she can use across social media, her website, and future client pitches.

The behind-the-scenes photos:

The BTS photos capture her process, attention to detail, product setup, and interactions with the models. These visuals are ideal for:

social media posts and stories
website “about me” or “behind the scenes” sections
showcasing her workflow to future clients
adding personality and authenticity to her portfolio

The video content we created:

• 1-hour makeup in 25 seconds
A fast-paced time-lapse showing her technique from start to finish. Perfect for showcasing skill, efficiency, and transformation.

• 3 before-and-afters
Short, clean transformations showing directly her expertise. These help new clients quickly understand her style and the quality of her work.

• mini vlog: day on set
A more personal, storytelling-style video showing her work environment, interactions, and energy on set, ideal for building trust and relatability.

• from look 1 to look 2
A transition video highlighting versatility and the ability to adapt a makeup throughout a shoot. Great for showcasing range to potential clients and brands.

• 3 model interviews
Each model shared their experience and feelings about the makeup and the whole day on set. These add authenticity and provide social proof she can use on her website or Instagram.

• teaser video
Short and dynamic, perfect for announcing upcoming projects or promoting the final photoshoot results.

• “doing your makeup doesn’t have to be boring”
A fun, natural moment between the artist and one of the models. This type of content humanizes her brand and shows that working with her is professional and enjoyable.

Social media posting guide:

Along with the visuals, I also created a document suggesting the ideal posting order and how to present everything on social media. This helps her share the content in a strategic, engaging sequence that tells a story, keeps consistency, and maximizes visibility.

This project gave her a full library of content that reflects not only her makeup skills but also her presence, professionalism, and creativity on set.
